The signing ceremony is held in Beijing on Jan 7, 2020.

As a commercial project in the southern coastal zone of Bao’an central district of Shenzhen, “Happy Harbor” is a focal point in the Greater Bay Area. Built by OCT, it is known as a new-generation all-for-one tourism benchmark, and follows the successful launch of popular parks such as Splendid China, Window of the World, Happy Valley, Eastern OCT, and OCT Harbour.

The OCT “Happy Harbor” project is benchmarked to the world’s leading bay areas. It intends to be a world-class bay area travel destination and a new-style all-for-one tourism demonstration area with an integrated offering of coastal entertainment, cultural tours, art experience, business, office space and boutique hotels.

The first phase of the project will take up a land area of 380,000 square meters, including a costal cultural park of 270,000 square meters, a Ferris wheel as high as 128 meters, and a performing arts center of 20,000 square meters.

CPAA Theaters is committed to making the Shenzhen OCT-CPAA Binhai Performing Arts Center into a “leading reform force” in urban flag-ship theaters, which will help enhance local cultural, innovative, and artistic elements.

The center has a refined architectural design meaning a harmonious co-existence of art and nature. Equipped with a 1500-seat grand theater, 600-seats in multi-functional cinema rooms, and fantastic audio-visual equipment, it is designed to be a remarkable opera house on the western side of the city.

As a cultural central state-owned enterprise keeping pace with national development, China Arts and Entertainment Group (CAEG) has been dedicated to external cultural exchanges for over six decades. The Overseas Chinese Town Holdings Company (OCT Group), as a large central SOE under direct management of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council (SASAC), is positioned to be “an innovator for quality life” committed to seeking innovative upgrades of the Chinese cultural and tourism industry. For this new project, the two industrial leaders are determined to affirm their cultural stances, fulfill their cultural missions, and further promote China’s cultural confidence.

CPAA Theaters is a subsidiary of CAEG. Following the parent company’s business goal and development strategy on “performing cultural duties in new industrial norms, and affirming cultural confidence in a new age”, the company enjoys integrated strength in external cultural exchanges. With combined resources of the directly-managed theaters and external resources contributed by the Silk Road International League of Theatres (SRILT), which consists of 124 members from 42 countries and regions, CPAA Theaters aims to create a national-level theater with global influence, and provide Shenzhen citizens with high-quality culture and art.

In the future, the joint venture will further implement the high-quality and connotative development approaches for the cultural industry adopted by Shenzhen, and facilitate cultural development upgrades in the Greater Bay Area. The project is expected to be a new cultural engine in southern Guangdong province and a landmark of Shenzhen. Targeting local, regional and global influence, the center will serve as a cultural signpost for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
